Modifying search pages for Santa Clarita chiropractic
Here’s a step-by-step summary of what to do when changing an active page from one directory to another when on the same chiropractic website.
Here is the page we started with…
Santa Clarita Chiropractor
http://www.planetc1.com/chiropractor_directory/santa_clarita_chiropractor.html
Page has a PR five
Ranked number five on Google for search term. That’s not anywhere near good enough.
Goal is to reposition page in a new directory without losing traffic or page rank.
Actual HTML page is moving from the directory… /chiropractor_directory/ to /NearMe/
We will be setting up a 301 permanent redirect
Step one: login to domain via FTP, locate page in directory and transfer to local machine for editing.
Step two: After page is edited and saved upload via FTP into proper directory then check page using HTML browser.
Step three: Setup page redirect on the server (using 301 redirect rules)
New page location…
http://www.planetc1.com/NearMe/santa-clarita-chiropractor.html
After that is done check to see the page loads properly when redirected. Check in Google or other major search engine. Make any changes you can on internal links to the new page. For example, this page had a link from the home page. We want to update that page as well.
Page rank will disappear on new page since it is brand new. If all goes well page rank should be applied to new page and appear within the next 30 days.
I’ll post here when page rank appears that we will have a general timeline for how long it took. Page appears on Planet Chiropractic.
