using chiropractor instead of chiropractors for search

I was looking for something earlier related to chiropractors in California and I had forgotten to save the page I found. I went to go do the search again but this time I apparently used the term chiropractor instead of chiropractors and I got slightly different results.

The first search I did was for “California Chiropractors” and I was doing the search via Google. If you want to see the Google output results for that particular search term you can view it here… http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=California+Chiropractors&btnG=Google+Search

The first page that appeared was the web site of the California State of chiropractic examiners. That’s not what I was looking for. The second page that came up was for the California chiropractors Association and it’s great to see that they’re getting such a high listing in the search engines, but it’s not what I was looking for. The third result appearing in search results was for the web site planet chiropractic but that’s not what I was looking for it either. The fourth result was for a doctor of chiropractic practicing in the Los Angeles area. Very cool that he was getting those results especially when there are an estimated 11,000 chiropractors in the state of California. Down towards the bottom of the the page I found what I was looking for, the California division of the international Chiropractors Association (also known as ICAC). The web site didn’t come up at all when I was looking for the term ICAC so I started doing some other searches and discovered the different results between searching chiropractor and chiropractors.

I would figure it’s more likely that a chiropractor would be searching for the plural version of the term and getting results like the California chiropractic Association, the planet chiropractic California chiropractors directory database, the international chiropractic Association of California web site, and the California Board web site would be likely results. I was a bit surprised to not see any of the four chiropractic colleges located in the state of California appearing in the search results (at least on the first page).

When searching for the term California chiropractor noticed some of the same web sites but the results were a little bit different then when searching for the plural version of the term. When doing the singular search the California chiropractic Association web site appeared in the top position. The California chiropractic license search site (which is a .gov domain) was appearing in the second or third position. A California chiropractic directory was appearing that I had never seen before, and there were two web sites for local California chiropractors appearing on the first pages of Google results. One of those results was for a page titled “Brentwood Chiropractor” and I was trying to figure out why it would come up in the top 10 on a search for California chiropractor. Oddly, the pages title tag doesn’t have anything with the word California in it. I took a look at the description tag inside the page source code and there was no information about the state of California, or the term California in the description. The term “CA” was in the description, but that was all I could find. Further down the page I did find the term California listed once in relationship to a chiropractic office in Pacific Palisades.

I’m thinking the term California chiropractor is not such a competitive term since few people would actually be searching for a chiropractor along with state information. At least that’s what I would think. I think it would be far more likely that somebody would be searching the name of a city like San Francisco or San Luis Obispo when seeking a chiropractor in the local geographic area.

Either way, it’s good to see that the two California chiropractic associations are at least appearing in search results when looking for content related to chiropractic in the state.
