Pushing Chiropractic Page Positions

Let’s take a look at some similar chiropractor pages that are not ranking well in the SERPs. When I say not ranking well, I mean not in the #1 position for the keywords we are searching on, even though the page may be in the top ten or may have fair PR rankings (PR4 or PR5).

One page that caught my attention was a “Denver Chiropractor” page on planetchiropractic. The page features content and a listing for a Dr. Steve Visentin of Care Chiropractic in Denver, Colorado. Even though the topic is on target with the keywords being searched the page is appearing (March 07) in position #10 in google (the lowest position before missing the first page of results all together).

Of the other sites listed, some appear to have better use of the term in their domain name. That could be a factor in positioning to consider. Since we cannot have the page changed we’ll have to investigate what other mods can be done to improve rankings.

Some things to consider will be inbound links, more on topic content, re-organization of the webpage, and again — inbound links. The page currently has a PR3 which is not horrible but not fantastic either. Some relevant links from some on topic PR4, PR5, and PR6 pages should get a bump on the pages position. I’ll begin checking around to see what sites would make good sources for inbounds on this doctors page.

Moving to the other side of the USA I see a page that appears similar but has several other things going for it. The page is for an Ellicott City Chiropractor listing and it is in position #3 when searching google for that keyword.

The difference on this page is there is a PR5 ranking from the PageRank meter. There is similar information on the page as the doctor in Denver, “Dr. Silverston is a Palmer College of Chiropractic graduate. A member of Maryland Chiropractic Association and the International Chiropractic Association. Dr. Silverston provides gentle, experienced care in a warm, friendly, professional environment.”

Another factor that could be effecting position is competition in the space (geo-local SEO space) and the directory structure the page is using. Unlike the Denver Chiropractic page, this page is in a directory called “NearMe” instead of one called “chiropractor_directory” and that may have even a slight affect on results. An interesting factor to mention is that the referring directories have different PR values as well. The NearMe root is a PR5 and the chiropractor_directory root is only a PR3.

I’ll get more details and we’ll see where these pages are rankin g in 30-60 days.
